Philip Shen ( 1931 - 2004 )

       Philip Shen's works have always reminded people of geometry and symmetry. Indeed , he almost concentrated entirely on this genre throughout his creative life. He always associated his creative ideas with his perception in philosophy, trying to pursue the purest form of beauty out of simplicity and symmetry. Most of the diagrams of his works consist of fewer than 15 steps , but that doesn't mean it's easy because it is well known that his models usually involve a critical collapse before you can reach the final step, and sometimes it can be a daunting requisite.

       Dr.Philip Shen's close association with Hong Kong not just came from his long lasting teaching career in the Chinese University of Hong Kong but also his contribution to the Hong Kong Origami Society and his generous donations of his collection of invaluable origami books to the Hong Kong Central Library , without which my gallery couldn't have provided such diversity seen in the present one.
